Nick Cannon has designed his own pair of headphones, the Ncredibles. This doesn’t sit well with Dustin, who sees Cannon as merely trying to position himself as the next Dr. Dre. Here, Dustin takes a look at why that could just never happen.
Let’s just get this out of the way; Nick Cannon, you will never be Dr. Dre.
Now, to explain how we got to this fairly obvious conclusion; one night I saw a commercial advertising Office Depot and their big back to school sale. I was shocked to see Nick Cannon in the commercial, seemingly stoked about the big savings at the Depot, but then, he said “Be sure to pick up my new headphones, the Ncredibles, at Office Depot.”
Whoa. Nick Cannon is in the headphone game and Office Depot is the one stop headphone shop?
Clearly, if I’m given a choice of headphones and Option A is a pair of Beats by Dre and Option B is the Ncredibles by Nick Cannon, I’m going to pay a little more (okay, a lot more) for the Beats because I want the headphones of a man known for his place as one of rap’s pioneers as well as one of its’ best producers, I don’t need headphones from “Underclassman.”
That’s the whole flaw with this product and marketing scheme, how can the consumer be convinced these headphones are top-notch when they’re sold at the decidedly un-electronic savvy Office Depot and designed by the decidedly un-hip-hop savvy Nick Cannon?
Dr. Dre does nothing but consistently bask in the ample amounts of street cred and swag-points he’s accrued over the years. He was a member of one of the greatest rap groups ever, he released one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever, he discovered this little guy from Detroit named Eminem and his upcoming album “Detox” has been the stuff of rap legend. It’s the “Chinese Democracy” of the rap world, except fans are pretty sure it’s not going to suck based on a few tracks that he’s already released. Plus, he looks like this now, I don’t know about you but I get this feeling he’s not going to let me buy any other brand of headphones.
Nick Cannon lives in a world of contradictions, he presents the image of a street smart entrepreneur in the marketing campaign Office Depot is running, but is best known for hosting “America’s Got Talent,” being married to Mariah Carey and getting his start on the Nickelodeon network, even having his own show on the channel.
We’re also led to believe from the marketing campaign that designing a pair of headphones has been Nick Cannon’s dream for years, whereas with Dre it’s pretty clear he did it because he’s a smart businessman that knows a little something about music production. His headphones have become a phenomenon with artists like Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber designing their own pairs as well as virtually every NBA player wearing them before/after games.
It remains to be seen how the Ncredibles will sell, but it’s unlikely they’ll take the place of Beats as the go-to headphones, a shame considering Mr. Carey was really “Wild’N’Out” about them.

The author of this story is a complete idiot. Did Nick Cannon sleep with your girlfriend a while back???
If you want to compare the headphones, you would simply get a blind survey from people, testing one headphone against the other. You can’t just simply say Dre’s headphones are better because he’s a gangsta rapper without testing the two first. One kind of idiot are you? The only thing your article says is that you are an immature teenager with a bias and pre-conceived notion. If you’re not a teenager you have a teenager’s mentality. Well I have actually tested both and my honest opinion Nick’s headphiones are a little bit better, so all you’re doing is paying for a name like you are Dre’s little bitch. If he says buy a bucket of shit with his name on it you will do it because you are his bitch.
Thanks for the marvelous posting! I really enjoyed reading it, you could be a great author. I will make sure to bookmark your blog and definitely will come back down the road. I want to encourage you to continue your great work, have a nice weekend!
I have been browsing on-line greater than 3 hours these days, yet I by no means discovered any interesting article like yours.
It’s beautiful value enough for me. Personally, if all web
owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet shall be a
lot more helpful than ever before.
Whoa! This blog looks exactly like my old one! It’s on a entirely different topic but it
has pretty much the same layout and design. Superb choice of colors!
