With the help of Blake Griffin and the Lucas Bros, 2K Sports has released two new videos showing off a bit more of the downloadable content fans who pre-order NBA 2K13 will receive.
The first video shows Clippers F and 2K13 cover star Blake Griffin appearing on the fictional show “Talkin’ 2K with the Lucas Bros.” In it, Griffin mentions that he wants to win All-Star weekend this year, rattling off event after event that he plans on entering and dominating, including even the halftime performances of the All-Star Game and the Rising Star Game. Griffin’s deadpan style of humor is on full display and the video ends with a little bit of new footage promoting the pre-order and the DLC “All Star Weekend.”
If the first video is an appetizer, the second satisfies in almost every way. The DLC for pre-ordering is the new “All Star Weekend” mini-games that look to add even more realism to the gaming experience while also bringing fans the kinds of matchups they dream of and argue about daily.
The four modes features on display in the video are the Slam Dunk Contest, the Three-Point Shootout, the Rising Star Challenge and the All-Star game itself.
The most obvious change are the mechanics on display for the Dunk Contest, it appears to be triggered by a series of “Guitar Hero”-esque button prompts. It remains to be seen how fluid the motions will be but knowing 2K, they wouldn’t have attempted it if they couldn’t pull it off well.
The other gigantic announcement is the reveal of the Hall of Fame players available for contention in all of the All-Star activities. The video shows scenarios like Larry Bird in the Three-Point shootout against Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant and fellow Celtic Paul Pierce. Michael Jordan, Art Webb, Shawn Kemp and more offer their services in the Dunk contest alongside Russell Westbrook and Blake Griffin, showcasing a recreation of his infamous dunk over a Kia Spectra.
The content is available to fans who pre-order the game by October 2 and with new features like this being announced daily, it’s unlikely that many fans will miss out on this exclusive content.
