Tonight, 6:00 p.m. the Kings and Sharks face-off in a do or die game seven (meant to be read like the guy in the ESPN commercials).
So, none of us here are hockey “experts” and as a matter of fact, Gavin is the Kings fan. I – Cameron that is – am a Flyers fan. But, since they didn’t make the playoffs, I feel it necessary to jump on the Kings bandwagon.
Earlier today, as I was driving to work, the general consensus was that L.A. would lose. Although, being at home is an advantage, the fact that the Sharks have stuck in there – first coming back from down 0-2, too forcing a game seven with a 2-1 home win. Johnathan Quick is, of course key, to the Kings pulling away with a victory. Posting a 1.54 Goals Against Average in the playoffs is a good start, but San Jose goaltender, Antti Niemi is also a brick wall in net, posting a 1.85 GAA.
The Kings have been there before though – they are the defending Stanley Cup Champions – and they are at home. Although, at times this doesn’t matter in the NHL, the Sharks have been known for coming up short in the playoffs, especially when on the precipice of advancing to something worth while like a Conference Final.
So, that’s about all I can muster as of right now on hockey. There’s also a game three in the Heat/Pacers series, but it’s pretty cut and dry in that one. Heat will win, then win in Miami, and we can all get ready for June 6th, when the NBA Finals start.
Go Kings! I’m saying they close it out 4-0, J. Quick earning the shutout and further proving that he’s top-three when it comes to best goaltenders right now. (Even though I am a closet Sharks fan. But hey, we’re in it for the hits and your continuous enjoyment of the site. So sometimes you have to pander. Right?)
