NBA News & Notes

Jason Kidd is the new coach of the Brooklyn Nets, and that may not be the weirdest story to come out of the NBA this week.

1. Kidd to Coach- Jason Kidd, fresh of his retirement at age 40, has been chosen to coach the Brooklyn Nets. The move makes some sense as Kidd played with the (then) New Jersey Nets and helped them get to two NBA Finals in ’02 and ’03. Where it gets a little muddy however is that despite already having a staff in mind, Kidd has no coaching experience of any level and he’s just been handed the keys to a big-budgeted team with sky high expectations that just got bounced in the first round. But hey, we’ll see.

2. Spurs Take Finals Lead- The NBA Finals returned to San Antonio for the first time since 2007 and the Spurs delivered in high fashion, beating the Miami Heat, 113-77, the third largest margin of victory in Final’s history. The Spurs can lay claim to an NBA playoff record 16 made threes in the game, with Gary Neal and Danny Green combining for 13 of them themselves.

3. Parker Questionable for Game 4- Spurs point guard Tony Parker is questionable to start in Game 4, Parker strained his hamstring in the third quarter and returned to the bench in the 4th, where the blowout was in full effect, getting Parker even more time to rest. Both Parker and Spurs coach Gregg Popovich downplayed the injury and maintained a “If he can play, Parker will play.” Game 4 is Thursday night at 5:3o in San Antonio.

4. Roy Hibbert Gatorade Challenge- Pacers Center Roy Hibbert can drink a Gatorade in 4 seconds. You read that right. 4 seconds. Here’s the video, watch in wonder.
