Kendrick Lamar Just Called Out The Entire Rap Game -by Dustin Brewer

Big Sean released a new song featuring Kendrick Lamar and Jay Electronica and many are calling Kendrick’s verse, which features the rapper calling out almost every current rapper, the best verse of the year. Dustin takes a look at the verse, and the song.

Sometimes, a rapper puts out a song with friends knowing that one verse stands out above the rest, one rapper that just manages to shine brighter than the others. A few instances that come to mind are “Monster” where Nicki Minaj out rapped Kanye West and Jay-Z (it’s true), “Look At Me Now” where Busta Rhymes showed Chris Brown (and tons of others) what rap really is and “Forgot About Dre” where the Dr. introduced us to Eminem.

In the just released song “Control (HOF)” Big Sean enlists the help of Kendrick Lamar and Jay Electronica and together they produce an 8 minute track that stands as one of the best songs Big Sean has released.

The song features a stellar verse from Big Sean and a great verse from Jay Electronica, but what has everyone buzzing is Kendrick Lamar’s verse.

Here is Kendrick’s whole verse, followed by the song itself:

Miscellaneous minds are never explaining their minds
Devilish grin for my alias aliens to respond
Peddling sin, thinking maybe when you get old you realize
I’m not going to fold or demise
(I don’t smoke crack, m*therf*cker I sell it!)
Everything I rap is a quarter piece to your melon
So if you have a relapse, just relax and pop in my disc
Don’t you pop me no f*cking pill, I’mma a pop you and give you this

Tell Flex to drop a bomb on this sh*t
So many bombs, ring the alarm like Vietnam in this sh*t
So many bombs, make Farrakhan think Saddam in this b*tch
One at a time, I line them up and bomb on they mom while she watching the kids
I’m in a destruction mode if the gold exists
I’m important like the pope, I’m a Muslim on pork
I’m Makaveli’s offspring, I’m the king of New York
King of the Coast, one hand, I juggle them both
The juggernaut’s all in your jugular, you take me for jokes
Live in the basement, church pews and funeral faces
Cartier bracelets for my women friends I’m in Vegas
Who the f*ck y’all thought it’s supposed to be?
If Phil Jackson came back, still no coachin’ me
I’m uncoachable, I’m unsociable
F*ck y’all clubs, f*ck y’all pictures, your Instagram can gobble these nuts
Gobble d*ck up until you hiccup, my big homie Kurupt
This the same flow that put the rap game on a crutch
I’ve seen n***as transform like villain Decepticons
Mollies’ll prolly turn these n***as to f*cking Lindsey Lohan
A bunch of rich ass white girls looking for parties
Playin with Barbies, wreck the Porsche before you give them the car key
Judge me until the monarchy, blessings to Paul McCartney
You called me a black Beatle, I’m either that or a Marley
(I don’t smoke crack m*therf*cker I sell it)
I’m dressed in all black, this is not for the fan of Elvis
I’m aiming straight for your pelvis, you can’t stomach me
You plan on stumping me? B*tch I’ve been jumped before you put a gun on me
B*tch I put one on yours, I’m Sean Connery
James Bonding with none of you n***as, climbing 100 mil in front of me
And I’m gonna get it even if you’re in the way
And if you’re in it, better run for Pete’s sake
I heard the barbershops be in great debates all the time
Bout who’s the best MC? Kendrick, Jigga and Nas
Eminem, Andre 3000, the rest of yall
New n***as just new n***as, don’t get involved
And I ain’t rockin no more designer shit
White Tees and Nike Cortez, this is red Corvettes anonymous
I’m usually homeboys with the same n***as I’m rhyming with
But this is hip hop and them n***as should know what time it is
And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Wale
Pusha T, Meek Millz, A$AP Rocky, Drake
Big Sean, Jay Electron’, Tyler, Mac Miller
I got love for you all but I’m tryna murder you n***as
Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you n*i**as
They dont wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you n***as
What is competition? I’m tryna raise the bar high
Who tryna jump and get it? You better off trying to skydive
Out the exit window of 5 G5’s with 5 grand
With your granddad as the pilot he drunk as f*ck trying to land
With the hand full of arthritis and popping prosthetic leg
Bumping Pac in the cockpit so the shit that pops in his head
Is an option of violence, someone heard the stewardess said
That your parachute is a latex condom hooked to a dread

That shit was hot fire right?

Kendrick through down somewhere around 750 words in about 3, maybe 3 and a half minutes. His wordplay stays just as stellar as fans have come to expect but what really stands out is his declaring himself the King of the Coast and the King of New York and his lines about Drake, Mac Miller and seemingly everyone in rap today have already caused controversy on Twitter.

Most of the rappers mentioned have already responded and most see this as a positive; as Kendrick simply raising the bar to an almost impossibly high standard. Kendrick Lamar just put the entire rap game on blast, and everyone knows it.
